Helicopter Landing Officer

Please note: This course is not accredited with OPITO for the off-shore oil industry.

Course Outline

As a Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO), you are responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to helicopter operations. Each and every one of these tasks relate to ensuring not only your own safety but the safety of helicopter operations and the people involved. Your role as a competent HLO will help the aircraft pilot and the company to maintain an efficient, productive and cost effective helicopter operation.

Because of the helicopter's ability to operate into and out of confined areas they have become an integral part of many workplaces. Helicopters are now used by the offshore oil industry, Police, Health Services (for primary response to accidents, emergency medical retrievals and inter-hospital transfers), Search and Rescue Organisations, Firefighters, Surveyors and power transmissions authorities to name but a few. They have been an increasing part of the military since the 1950's.

Regardless of where you work if you are involved in helicopter operations this course will provide you with skills and knowledge to safely and professionally carry out the duties of a HLO.
